The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is dedicated to accompanying, serving, and advocating for refugees and forcibly displaced persons worldwide. As an international Catholic organization, JRS operates through national and regional programs supported by its international office in Rome. Founded in 1980 by the Society of Jesus and officially registered in Vatican City in 2000, JRS has a global presence, assisting individuals in 51 countries. We are seeking a diligent and organized Finance Assistant to join our Rome-based team.

Job Overview

The Finance Assistant will provide essential support to the Finance Department of JRS International Office in Rome, contributing to the accurate and efficient management of financial operations in alignment with JRS’s mission and values. This role is crucial for maintaining financial integrity and enabling the effective delivery of JRS programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Maintain financial records and ledgers with accuracy.
  • Support in preparing financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external vendors on financial matters.
  • Aid in budget monitoring and tracking expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with JRS financial policies and procedures.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
