Job Overview

As Chief Executive Officer, you will establish the strategic direction and operational framework for the Africa Energy Bank, a specialized financing institution within Afreximbank. You will lead the bank’s mission to finance energy projects, promote regional energy trade, and accelerate Africa’s energy transition while ensuring financial sustainability and stakeholder confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Africa Energy Bank’s strategic vision and business plan
• Build and manage a high-performing executive team and organizational structure
• Establish financial policies, credit standards, and risk management frameworks
• Identify and evaluate energy financing opportunities across Africa
• Cultivate relationships with governments, development partners, and institutional investors
• Ensure regulatory compliance and corporate governance standards
• Drive innovation in energy project financing and sustainable development

Requirements

• 15+ years of senior management experience in banking, finance, or energy sectors
• Proven track record establishing and leading financial institutions
• Deep understanding of African energy markets and development challenges
• Strong knowledge of project finance and infrastructure financing
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills
• Advanced degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Fluency in English; proficiency in additional African languages preferred
