Job Overview
The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing and analyzing all aspects of product costing, inventory valuation, and cost control initiatives. This role is crucial for ensuring the profitability and efficiency of our manufacturing and distribution operations across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Analyze manufacturing variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform cost analysis for new products and manufacturing processes.
- Manage inventory valuation, including LIFO/FIFO analysis and obsolescence review.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to optimize cost efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, ICAN) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in cost accounting, preferably within the FMCG sector.
- Proficiency in cost accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
