Catalytic Finance Specialist at UNOPS | UK

UNOPS is seeking a motivated and experienced Catalytic Finance Specialist to join our team in the UK. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing innovative financing mechanisms to unlock private sector investment for sustainable development initiatives supported by UNOPS. You will work collaboratively with governments, development partners, and private sector actors to leverage catalytic finance, driving impactful and scalable solutions across various sectors.

Job Overview

The Catalytic Finance Specialist will play a pivotal role in identifying, structuring, and managing catalytic finance opportunities. This includes developing financial models, conducting due diligence, and engaging with potential investors to mobilize resources for projects that align with UNOPS’ mandate and partner priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for catalytic finance, including blended finance, guarantees, and impact investments.
• Identify and assess potential private sector partners and investors for development projects.
• Structure financial instruments and agreements to de-risk investments and attract private capital.
• Conduct financial analysis, due diligence, and risk assessments for catalytic finance transactions.
• Build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments, financial institutions, and corporations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in finance, investment banking, project finance, or development finance.
• Demonstrated understanding of catalytic finance instruments and principles.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in other UN languages is an asset.
