About the Africa Finance Corporation Internship Program 2026
Interns will actively support AFC and AFC Capital’s investment, syndications, and advisory activities across Africa. The role provides deep exposure to origination, business development, transaction execution, portfolio management, and overall investment operations within the infrastructure and finance space.
This program is designed for professionals seeking advanced practical experience in infrastructure finance, investment banking, and development finance in Africa.
Educational Requirements
Applicants for the Africa Finance Corporation Internship Program 2026 must meet the following criteria:
- Strong first degree in engineering, economics, finance, or sciences from a recognised university
- Additional qualifications such as an MBA or MSc in a relevant discipline will be an advantage
- Relevant professional certifications related to finance or infrastructure investment are desirable
Experience Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate:
- A minimum of three years professional experience, preferably in infrastructure investment banking or financial advisory
- Prior involvement in infrastructure investment and or financial or operations advisory on African projects
- Experience in research, financial analysis, and preparation of pitch books or professional presentations
Language Requirements
- Full fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory
- Knowledge of French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Arabic is an added advantage
Key Technical Skills and Competencies

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel financial modelling including project finance, corporate finance, equity, shareholder loans, and mezzanine structures
- Strong financial analysis and quantitative problem solving skills
- Proven ability to prepare high quality Microsoft PowerPoint pitchbooks and marketing materials
- Strong investment review and credit analysis capabilities
- Solid understanding of Africa’s investment landscape, particularly the infrastructure sector
- Excellent research skills with the ability to leverage public data, professional networks, and internal resources
