Job Overview
The Medical Assistant will provide crucial support to IOM’s medical activities in Nigeria, contributing to the health and well-being of migrants and beneficiaries. This role involves assisting medical staff with patient care, administrative tasks, and maintaining medical supplies and records.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist doctors and nurses in providing primary health care services to beneficiaries.
- Conduct basic medical screenings, vital signs measurements, and health education sessions.
- Manage and organize medical supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with IOM protocols.
- Support the organization and implementation of vaccination campaigns and health awareness programs.
- Facilitate communication between medical staff and beneficiaries, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control procedures.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role.
- Proficiency in basic medical procedures and patient care techniques.
- Familiarity with medical record-keeping and administrative tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local Nigerian languages is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
