Job Overview

The Medical Assistant will provide crucial support to IOM’s medical activities in Nigeria, contributing to the health and well-being of migrants and beneficiaries. This role involves assisting medical staff with patient care, administrative tasks, and maintaining medical supplies and records.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist doctors and nurses in providing primary health care services to beneficiaries.
• Conduct basic medical screenings, vital signs measurements, and health education sessions.
• Manage and organize medical supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with IOM protocols.
• Support the organization and implementation of vaccination campaigns and health awareness programs.
• Facilitate communication between medical staff and beneficiaries, ensuring clarity and understanding.
• Adhere to all safety and infection control procedures.

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role.
• Proficiency in basic medical procedures and patient care techniques.
• Familiarity with medical record-keeping and administrative tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local Nigerian languages is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
