Chess in Slums Africa (CISA) is seeking an experienced Head of Programs to lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of programmes supporting children and young people across underserved communities and public schools.
This is a leadership position for a strong programme and project management professional who can bring structure, strategic thinking, effective programme delivery, and strong stakeholder management to a growing programme portfolio.
As part of the Management Team, the Head of Programs will lead the Programs Unit, including volunteers, and work closely with other Department Heads to ensure programmes are delivered effectively and achieve their intended objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead programmes from planning and implementation through to close-out.
- Manage programme teams, volunteers, facilitators, and key stakeholders.
- Oversee programme data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Manage programme timelines, budgets, resources, and risks.
- Support the development of proposals, partnerships, and organisational planning.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Programs Unit.
- Work with other department heads to coordinate effective programme delivery.
- Monitor programme progress and support continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in programme or project management.
- Proven experience managing programmes from planning through implementation and evaluation.
- Strong leadership, communication, data analysis, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in nonprofit, education, youth development, or social impact is an advantage.
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
