A plastic manufacturing company in Lagos is seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources Officer to manage the day-to-day Human Resources function of its manufacturing facility.
The successful candidate will oversee recruitment and selection, employee relations, performance management, staff training, HR administration, workforce management, compliance, and employee records, while ensuring adherence to company policies and Nigerian labour laws.
The role is suited to an HR professional with 2–3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment and strong knowledge of HR practices and employee management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment and selection process, including job advertising, CV screening, interviews, onboarding, and employee documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and staff nominal roll.
- Manage probation reviews, employee confirmations, leave administration, attendance, disciplinary processes, promotions, and employee exits.
- Coordinate performance management activities, including KPI administration, employee appraisals, and salary review recommendations.
- Coordinate staff training, induction programmes, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Handle employee relations, grievances, conflict resolution, and provide HR guidance to employees and management.
- Liaise with department heads on workforce planning and manpower requirements.
- Oversee the administration of permanent and casual employees.
- Monitor attendance, absenteeism, overtime, and leave records.
- Prepare periodic HR reports and provide management with relevant HR recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, company policies, and Nigerian labour laws.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation and ensure records are properly organised for regulatory inspections.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Sound knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices.
- Professional certification such as CIPM, SHRM, or HRCI is an added advantage but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong confidentiality, attention to detail, and employee management skills.
