This is a pivotal role within our robust operational infrastructure, contributing directly to the efficiency and productivity of our essential crushing operations.

Job Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Technician – Crusher, you will be instrumental in maintaining and optimizing the performance of our heavy-duty crushing equipment. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational output. This role demands a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and a deep understanding of the mechanical systems involved in aggregate processing. You will work collaboratively with the engineering and operational teams to uphold the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

* Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all types of crushers, including jaw, cone, and impact crushers, adhering to manufacturer specifications and company protocols.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures and malfunctions on crushing machinery, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions.
* Conduct routine inspections of crusher components such as liners, jaws, cones, bearings, and drive systems, reporting on wear and tear and recommending replacement or repair.
* Execute complex mechanical repairs and overhauls, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
* Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand equipment configurations and perform installations and modifications.
* Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used, contributing to a comprehensive equipment history log.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team.
* Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards during all maintenance and repair activities.

Requirements

* A minimum of a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
* Proven track record of at least 5 years of hands-on experience as a Mechanical Technician, with a significant focus on heavy-duty crushing equipment.
* In-depth knowledge of various crusher types (jaw, cone, impact) and their associated mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
* Strong understanding of welding, grinding, and fitting techniques, with the ability to perform basic fabrication.
* Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
