About the Research Project

The project focuses on discovery research within Nigeria’s automotive dealership sector. The objective is to better understand how dealerships run their operations from the perspective of the dealers themselves.

The full research brief and detailed study questions will be shared with the selected candidate during onboarding. At this stage, the emphasis is on finding a researcher who can successfully recruit dealership participants and conduct open ended interviews that reveal authentic operational insights.

Job Overview

The Qualitative Research Contractor Job in Nigeria Automotive Industry requires a self motivated researcher who can manage the entire qualitative research process. From identifying potential participants to conducting interviews and synthesizing insights, the contractor will play a central role in delivering meaningful findings for the project.

This engagement runs for eight weeks and includes structured check ins with the project team to review progress and discuss insights.

Key Responsibilities

Participant Recruitment

The selected contractor will be responsible for identifying and recruiting dealership contacts across major Nigerian cities. Responsibilities include

  • Sourcing and recruiting both new and used car dealership contacts in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano
  • Creating participant profiles before interviews take place
  • Conducting independent outreach to recruit qualified participants

Interview Management

The contractor will conduct structured interviews with dealership representatives to gather insights into their operations.

Responsibilities include

  • Conducting three to four recorded interviews each week beginning from week three of the project
  • Holding interviews via voice or video calls
  • Conducting conversations in English or Nigerian Pidgin depending on the participant’s preference
  • Obtaining participant consent before recording any interview

Data Handling and Documentation

The role also requires proper management and documentation of research materials.

Key tasks include

  • Uploading interview recordings and transcripts to Google Cloud Storage
  • Writing synthesis reports after each interview
  • Highlighting operational challenges, insights, and key observations from participants
  • Providing interpretation of findings beyond simple summaries

Project Communication

To ensure progress throughout the research process, the contractor will

  • Join a daily fifteen minute check in meeting to discuss recruitment updates and scheduled interviews
  • Participate in weekly thirty minute review meetings with the project team
  • Submit synthesis documents at least twenty four hours before weekly review meetings

Scope of the Research

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Minimum educational qualification of OND or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience conducting qualitative research interviews

Salary and Compensation

  • Monthly earnings range between ₦300,000 and ₦400,000
  • Fixed retainer of ₦150,000 paid every two weeks
  • Total contract value of ₦600,000 for the eight week engagement

Payments are tied to project milestones. Missing two consecutive milestones may trigger a review of the contract.

Project Timeline

The research project will run for eight weeks with the following structure

  1. Weeks one and two will focus on participant recruitment and building a pipeline of approved dealerships
  2. Interviews will begin in week three
  3. Three to four interviews will be conducted weekly from week three to week eight
  4. The project aims to complete approximately twenty interviews in total
