The Africa CDC/AVMI Industrial Fellowship Programme 2026 is a fully funded initiative designed to train the next generation of vaccine manufacturing professionals in Africa. This one-year fellowship provides hands-on experience at active vaccine manufacturing institutions across Egypt, Senegal, and South Africa, equipping participants with critical competencies in vaccine R&D and manufacturing.

The programme aligns with the African Union’s PAVM 2040 goals, aiming to scale Africa’s vaccine workforce from its current 2,000–3,000 FTEs to meet continental demand by 2040.

Programme Overview

  • Duration: 1 Year
  • Location: Egypt, Senegal, or South Africa
  • Focus: Hands-on training in current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and vaccine manufacturing processes
  • Host Institutions: Active vaccine manufacturing facilities supported by Africa CDC and AVMI

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Recent graduates (within the last 3 years) with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following fields:
    • Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
    • Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
    • Chemistry and Biochemistry
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Biomanufacturing/Vaccine Manufacturing
  • Citizens of an African Union Member State
  • Valid passport and ability to travel to fellowship host country
  • Proficiency in English or French

  • Return flight tickets to the industrial fellowship site
  • Minimal stipend to cover daily expenses
  • Visa fees and supporting documents for visa application

Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed by Africa CDC, PHAHM, and AVMI committees
  • Only 14 candidates will be selected for the fellowship
  • Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for further processing
