## Job Overview

The Head of Risk Management will be instrumental in shaping and executing Veridion’s comprehensive risk management framework. This pivotal role requires a strategic leader to identify, assess, and mitigate a wide range of risks inherent in a rapidly evolving fintech and microfinance environment. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust risk governance, policies, and procedures to ensure the financial health, operational integrity, and regulatory compliance of the organization. ## Key Responsibilities

* Develop, implement, and continuously refine the enterprise-wide risk management framework, ensuring alignment with Veridion’s strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
* Establish and oversee the effective execution of risk assessment methodologies across all business units, including credit risk, market risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, compliance risk, and strategic risk.
* Design and implement robust risk policies, procedures, and controls to effectively manage identified risks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
* Lead the development and implementation of a proactive risk monitoring and reporting system, providing timely and insightful risk intelligence to senior management and the Board of Directors.
* Foster a strong risk-aware culture throughout the organization, providing training and guidance to all staff on risk management principles and practices.
* Collaborate closely with business lines, operations, compliance, and internal audit to integrate risk management into daily operations and decision-making processes.
* Proactively identify emerging risks and trends within the fintech and microfinance landscape, recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
* Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and insurance providers, as they pertain to risk management.

## Requirements

* A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in risk management, with a significant portion within the financial services, fintech, or banking sectors.
* Proven track record in developing and implementing comprehensive risk management frameworks and policies in a startup or growth-stage environment.
* In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to microfinance institutions and digital financial services in Nigeria.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable risk mitigation strategies.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., FRM, PRM) is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated experience in credit risk assessment, operational risk management, and compliance frameworks.
