This handbook will serve as a crucial tool to equip them with the knowledge, understanding, and practical strategies needed to prevent and respond effectively to GBV within their spheres of influence. Your expertise will directly contribute to fostering safer and more equitable communities across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities

* Develop a comprehensive curriculum framework and detailed content outline for a GBV prevention handbook specifically designed for traditional rulers.
* Research and synthesize best practices, legal frameworks, and cultural considerations related to GBV prevention in the Nigerian context.
* Draft, edit, and refine the handbook content, ensuring clarity, cultural sensitivity, accessibility, and practical applicability for the target audience.
* Integrate engaging pedagogical approaches and learning methodologies suitable for adult learners and community leaders.
* Collaborate closely with ActionAid Nigeria’s GBV programming team, legal experts, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
* Develop assessment tools and evaluation mechanisms to measure the effectiveness and impact of the handbook.
* Present draft content and seek feedback from key stakeholders, including traditional rulers and GBV experts, incorporating revisions as necessary.
Requirements
* An Advanced Degree (Master’s or PhD) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Law, or a closely related field.
* A minimum of 8 years of demonstrable professional experience in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programming, research, or curriculum development.
* Proven track record of developing educational materials, manuals, or training modules, preferably within a development or human rights context.
* Strong understanding of GBV concepts, dynamics, causes, consequences, and prevention strategies, with specific knowledge of the Nigerian context.
* Excellent research, analytical, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into accessible language.
* Experience in participatory approaches and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including community leaders and traditional authorities.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs.
What We Offer
* The opportunity to contribute meaningfully to ActionAid Nigeria’s impactful work in combating Gender-Based Violence.
* A platform to leverage your expertise and influence positive change within communities across the country.
* Collaboration with a dedicated and passionate team committed to social justice and human rights.
* A competitive consultancy fee commensurate with experience and expertise.
