INTERSOS is seeking a dedicated Medical Doctor to join our mission in Dikwa, Nigeria. As an independent, non-profit organization, INTERSOS is committed to providing effective humanitarian assistance to individuals in severe crisis, particularly in the world’s most impoverished regions. We address the needs of those suffering, deprived of their rights, dignity, and essential goods, operating with a flexible structure. The Italian head office provides strategic coordination, support, and monitoring for activities undertaken by our decentralized offices in countries of intervention, adhering to our statutes.

Job Overview

The Medical Doctor will play a pivotal role in delivering essential healthcare services within the Dikwa operational area. This position requires a skilled and compassionate physician capable of managing a range of medical conditions, contributing to public health initiatives, and ensuring high standards of patient care in a challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical consultations, diagnosis, and treatment to patients.
• Prescribe and administer appropriate medications and therapies.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and interpret results.
• Conduct health education sessions for patients and the community.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to INTERSOS medical protocols and international health standards.
• Contribute to health assessments and outbreak investigations as needed.

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MD) or equivalent.
• Valid medical license to practice.
• Proven experience as a Medical Doctor, preferably in humanitarian or resource-limited settings.
• Proficiency in general medicine and emergency care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Adaptability and resilience in challenging environments.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
