We are seeking a driven and experienced ESG Manager to lead our Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives, ensuring Babban Gona operates with the highest standards of integrity and positive impact.

Job Overview

The ESG Manager will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing Babban Gona’s ESG strategy. This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of sustainability principles and their application within the agricultural sector, particularly in the Nigerian context. You will be responsible for embedding ESG considerations into all facets of our operations, driving positive environmental and social outcomes, and ensuring robust governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive ESG strategy aligned with Babban Gona’s mission.
  • Conduct ESG risk assessments and identify opportunities for improvement across the value chain.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on key ESG performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Engage with stakeholders, including farmers, investors, and regulatory bodies, on ESG matters.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental and social regulations.
  • Promote a culture of sustainability and ethical conduct within the organization.
  • Integrate ESG principles into operational processes and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in ESG management, sustainability, or corporate social responsibility, preferably within the development or agricultural sector.
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB), and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Nigerian agricultural landscape is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
