Job Overview
The Logistics Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating all logistical aspects of JRS operations at the international office in Rome. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient procurement, storage, and distribution of goods and services, supporting the delivery of vital programs to refugees and displaced persons worldwide.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the procurement process for goods and services, ensuring compliance with JRS policies and procedures.
- Manage inventory and stock levels, maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely replenishment.
- Coordinate the transportation and delivery of supplies to various JRS field offices and program sites.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring quality standards.
- Implement and monitor logistical procedures to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Provide logistical support for international events, meetings, and travel.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant customs regulations and import/export requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of logistical reports and budget monitoring.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a logistics or supply chain role, preferably within an international non-profit or humanitarian organization.
- Strong understanding of procurement, inventory management, and transportation principles.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in relevant logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages, particularly Italian, is an asset.
