Job Overview
The Customs & Forwarding Subject Matter Expert will provide expert guidance on customs procedures, documentation, and international forwarding practices. This consultancy will focus on enhancing our operational efficiency and mitigating risks within the complex landscape of global logistics, particularly for clients in FMCG, Commodities, Oil & Gas, and Telecoms sectors.Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and advise on current customs clearance procedures and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to streamline import and export processes.
- Ensure compliance with all Kenyan and international customs regulations and trade laws.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on customs and forwarding best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements for freight forwarding documentation and communication.
- Stay abreast of changes in customs policies and trade agreements that may impact operations.
Requirements
- Proven extensive experience as a Customs Broker or Forwarding Specialist.
- In-depth knowledge of Kenyan customs laws, tariffs, and import/export documentation.
- Demonstrated expertise in international shipping regulations and multimodal transport.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Previous experience in a consultancy role is a plus.
