UNESCO has officially opened nominations for the UNESCO–Juan Bosch Prize for the Promotion of Social Science Research in Latin America and the Caribbean 2026. This prestigious international award, funded by the Government of the Dominican Republic, recognizes outstanding young researchers whose work contributes to social development and policy innovation across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The 2026 laureate will receive a cash prize of USD 12,000, along with global recognition for their contribution to social science research.

Who Can Be Nominated?

The Prize is open to young social science researchers under the age of 40 who have made significant contributions to research and social development policy related to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Who Can Submit Nominations?

UNESCO accepts nominations from the following bodies:

• UNESCO Member States, through their National Commissions
• Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) maintaining official relations with UNESCO and active in relevant fields

Self-nominations are not permitted. All nominations must be submitted through official channels.
