The team is growing and they need a Senior WordPress Developer who can handle serious technical work and help raise the bar for how WordPress applications are built and maintained.

Job Overview

This is a hands-on senior role for someone who knows WordPress development deeply and is comfortable working in modern cloud-based environments. You’ll develop, customise, and maintain WordPress applications, conduct code reviews, debug complex issues across both code and infrastructure, and provide technical guidance to other developers on the team. Performance, security, and scalability are central to how AppLab builds, and this role is expected to uphold those standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, customise, and maintain WordPress applications, plugins, and themes to a high standard of quality and consistency.
• Perform code reviews to ensure scalability, security, and adherence to modern development best practices.
• Manage application deployments using Docker and CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with the DevOps team.
• Conduct advanced debugging, including troubleshooting issues on Azure resources such as App Service, Virtual Machines, and API Management.
• Work with REST APIs, Composer, and modern PHP development workflows on a day-to-day basis.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other developers within the WordPress team.
• Ensure performance optimisation, security hardening, and scalability are built into every WordPress application delivered.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience covering themes, plugins, and custom development.
• Strong expertise in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and REST API integration.
• Practical experience with Docker and working within CI/CD pipeline environments.
• Proficiency with Composer and modern PHP development practices.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services, particularly App Service and related infrastructure.
• Proven ability to debug complex application issues across both code and cloud infrastructure layers.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
