Job Overview

The Secondary School Food and Nutrition Teacher will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons that equip students with a comprehensive understanding of food science, healthy eating habits, culinary skills, and nutrition principles. This role is integral to promoting well-being and healthy lifestyle choices among our students.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Food and Nutrition curriculum aligned with national educational standards.
• Deliver engaging and interactive lessons, incorporating practical demonstrations and hands-on activities.
• Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including coursework, practical assessments, and examinations.
• Foster a safe and hygienic learning environment in the kitchen laboratory.
• Promote awareness of healthy eating, food safety, and nutritional guidelines.
• Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills related to food choices and preparation.
• Maintain accurate student records and provide regular feedback to students and parents.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Home Economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the secondary school level.
• In-depth knowledge of food science, nutrition, and culinary arts.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to create and deliver inspiring and practical lessons.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food preparation.
• Must be registered with a relevant professional body.
