Job Overview

The Head of Recovery will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to minimize loan delinquency and maximize recovery rates across all loan portfolios. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of debt collection processes, risk management, and regulatory compliance within the Nigerian financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute effective recovery strategies to reduce non-performing loans (NPLs).
  • Lead and manage the recovery team, providing guidance and performance oversight.
  • Implement robust collection processes, from early-stage delinquency to legal action.
  • Negotiate repayment plans and settlements with delinquent borrowers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Analyze recovery performance data and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Collaborate with credit and operations departments to prevent future delinquencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in debt recovery, collections, or a related financial services role, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Nigerian microfinance sector and regulatory environment.
  • Proven track record of successful debt recovery and NPL reduction.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant recovery software and analytical tools.
