Job Overview

The Dump/Tipping Truck Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of dump/tipping trucks, ensuring they are in optimal working condition to support our construction and logistics operations. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will be expected to perform routine maintenance, diagnose and repair faults, and provide technical support to our drivers and operations team. As a key member of our maintenance team, the Dump/Tipping Truck Mechanic will play a critical role in minimizing downtime, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring the overall efficiency of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities

* Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements, to ensure the optimal performance of our dump/tipping trucks
* Diagnose and repair faults, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues, using specialized tools and equipment
* Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential problems and recommend repairs or maintenance
* Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and reduce maintenance costs
* Provide technical support and training to our drivers and operations team on vehicle maintenance, safety, and operation
* Collaborate with other maintenance team members to share knowledge, best practices, and resources
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, parts used, and labor hours

Requirements

* A minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in a similar role maintaining heavy-duty trucks or construction equipment
* A diploma or certificate in automotive repair, diesel mechanics, or a related field
* Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other vehicle systems
* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex faults
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with drivers, operators, and other team members
* Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and make sound judgments and decisions
* Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent lifting, bending, and standing
