Job Overview
The Internal Control Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring a robust internal control framework designed to mitigate risks, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting within Maybrands Nigeria Limited.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive internal control policies and procedures across all retail outlets and departments.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies.
- Oversee and execute internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor inventory management processes, sales transactions, and cash handling procedures to prevent fraud and loss.
- Review financial records and operational data to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with department heads to foster a strong control-aware culture throughout the organization.
- Prepare detailed reports on internal control findings and recommendations for senior management.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to retail operations and financial management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in internal control, internal audit, or risk management, preferably within the retail or luxury goods sector.
- Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and auditing principles.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, risk assessment, and control testing.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Experience with retail POS systems and inventory management software is a plus.
