The British High Commission in Nigeria is seeking a motivated and organised individual to join our Political Section as a Commonwealth Scholarships Officer. This role plays a crucial part in fostering educational and developmental links between the UK and Nigeria, aligning with the Political Section’s mandate to strengthen bilateral relations. You will be instrumental in managing and promoting the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarships programme, contributing to a vital aspect of our diplomatic engagement.

Job Overview

The Commonwealth Scholarships Officer will be responsible for the comprehensive administration and promotion of the Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships in Nigeria. This includes managing applications, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring the smooth operation of the programme within the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote Commonwealth Scholarships opportunities to eligible candidates across Nigeria.
  • Manage the end-to-end application process, including initial screening and eligibility checks.
  • Provide guidance and support to prospective applicants throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Liaise with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and relevant UK institutions.
  • Maintain accurate records and data related to scholarship applications and awards.
  • Assist with post-award logistics and communication with scholars.
  • Requirements

  • Proven administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong understanding of or interest in educational programmes and international relations.
  • Prior experience in a similar administrative or programme support role is desirable.
