Job Overview

[**Company Name**] is seeking a highly experienced and motivated **Deputy Sectional Head – Instrumentation** to join our dynamic Power Plant division in Nigeria. This crucial role will involve overseeing and managing the instrumentation section, ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all power plant instrumentation systems. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Sectional Head to drive operational excellence, implement best practices, and mentor a team of skilled technicians and engineers, contributing directly to the continuous and efficient power generation for our vital operations.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist the Sectional Head in the planning, execution, and supervision of all instrumentation activities within the power plant.
* Oversee the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of all plant instrumentation, including control loops, sensors, transmitters, and actuators.
* Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards in all instrumentation-related operations.
* Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for instrumentation to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.
* Manage spare parts inventory for instrumentation, ensuring availability and cost-effectiveness.
* Participate in root cause analysis of instrumentation failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Support the training and development of junior instrumentation staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill enhancement.
* Collaborate with other engineering departments and operations teams to integrate instrumentation solutions and address plant-wide technical challenges.
* Contribute to budget planning and cost control initiatives for the instrumentation section.
* Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all maintenance activities, calibration records, and technical reports.

Requirements

* A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field.
* A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in instrumentation within a large-scale industrial environment, preferably in a power plant setting.
* Demonstrated expertise in the maintenance and troubleshooting of various instrumentation and control systems (e.g., DCS, PLC, SCADA).
* Strong understanding of calibration techniques and the use of calibration equipment.
* Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
* Familiarity with power plant operations and safety procedures is highly desirable.
