Job Overview
Maventeq Systems Limited is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Oil Spill Response QHSE Lead to join our esteemed team in Nigeria. This critical role will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing our Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) programs specifically for oil spill response operations. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout all response activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive QHSE management systems tailored to oil spill response operations, ensuring alignment with international standards and Nigerian regulatory frameworks.
* Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard identification for all oil spill response scenarios, developing mitigation strategies and emergency preparedness plans.
* Lead and manage the QHSE aspects of oil spill response exercises, drills, and actual incidents, ensuring effective deployment of resources and adherence to safety protocols.
* Investigate all QHSE-related incidents, including near misses and spills, to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
* Oversee the training and competency of personnel involved in oil spill response activities, ensuring they are adequately equipped with the necessary QHSE knowledge and skills.
* Monitor and audit QHSE performance across all oil spill response projects, identifying areas for improvement and reporting findings to senior management.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and company policies related to spill prevention, containment, cleanup, and waste management.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and other stakeholders on all QHSE matters pertaining to oil spill response operations.
Requirements
* Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in QHSE management, with a significant portion dedicated to oil spill response operations.
* Proven track record in developing and implementing effective QHSE management systems within the oil and gas industry.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant Nigerian environmental regulations, international oil spill response conventions, and industry best practices (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
* Certification in QHSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) and specialized oil spill response training is highly desirable.
* Excellent understanding of risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation techniques, and emergency response planning.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization.
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in critical situations.
