Job Overview
The Data Center Economic Development Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of economic development strategy and execution for Meta's data center portfolio. This includes site selection, incentive negotiation, community engagement, and partnership building to ensure the successful development and operation of our high-performance, efficient data centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential data center sites based on technical requirements, economic viability, and community impact.
- Develop and execute comprehensive economic development strategies to secure favorable terms and incentives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with state and local government officials, economic development organizations, and community leaders.
- Lead negotiations for land acquisition, tax abatements, grants, and other economic incentives.
- Conduct thorough due diligence on potential sites, including environmental, infrastructure, and community readiness assessments.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Real Estate, Legal, Engineering, and Policy, to ensure successful project execution.
- Represent Meta at industry events, public forums, and community meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Public Policy, Business Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in economic development, site selection, real estate development, or government affairs, with a focus on large-scale industrial or technology infrastructure.
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating complex economic incentive packages and securing land for development.
- Strong understanding of economic development principles, public finance, and government relations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
