Job Overview
The Medical Counselor will be responsible for providing emotional, psychological, and informational support to patients undergoing eye treatments and surgeries. This role requires a compassionate and empathetic individual who can effectively communicate complex medical information and address patient anxieties, thereby enhancing their overall experience and facilitating optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting initial assessments to understand patient concerns and emotional needs.
Providing counseling and support to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery processes.
Explaining medical procedures and pre/post-operative care in an understandable manner.
Liaising with the medical team to ensure coordinated patient care.
Developing and implementing support strategies to manage patient anxiety and distress.
Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Proven experience in a counseling or patient support role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to patient well-being.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Familiarity with medical terminology and eye care is an advantage.
