Job Overview

The Medical Counselor will be responsible for providing emotional, psychological, and informational support to patients undergoing eye treatments and surgeries. This role requires a compassionate and empathetic individual who can effectively communicate complex medical information and address patient anxieties, thereby enhancing their overall experience and facilitating optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting initial assessments to understand patient concerns and emotional needs.
  • Providing counseling and support to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery processes.
  • Explaining medical procedures and pre/post-operative care in an understandable manner.
  • Liaising with the medical team to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Developing and implementing support strategies to manage patient anxiety and distress.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.

    • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a counseling or patient support role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to patient well-being.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and eye care is an advantage.
