Job Overview

The Internal Control Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and compliance of Ikeja Electric’s operations. This position requires a proactive individual to develop, implement, and monitor internal control systems, policies, and procedures across all business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal control frameworks and procedures.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential control weaknesses and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and execute audit plans to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.
  • Monitor adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate discrepancies and irregularities, reporting findings and recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with department heads to embed a strong control culture.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on internal control activities for senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of evolving industry best practices and regulatory changes in internal control and risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CISA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in internal control, internal audit, or a related compliance function.
  • Strong understanding of internal control principles, risk management, and corporate governance.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the Nigerian power sector is an advantage.
