Action Against Hunger | ACF Nigeria LTD/GTE is seeking a dedicated and experienced Hygiene Officer to join our team in Nigeria. The Hygiene Officer will play a crucial role in implementing and monitoring hygiene promotion activities to improve public health and well-being within our program areas.

Job Overview

The Hygiene Officer will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of hygiene promotion activities, community engagement, and capacity building initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of WASH principles and community-based approaches to public health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement hygiene promotion strategies and action plans.
  • Conduct community needs assessments and baseline surveys on hygiene practices.
  • Organize and facilitate hygiene promotion sessions, workshops, and campaigns.
  • Train and supervise community health volunteers and hygiene promoters.
  • Monitor the effective use of hygiene facilities and promote safe sanitation practices.
  • Collaborate with other WASH team members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and ensure data quality.

    • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in hygiene promotion or WASH programming.
  • Proven experience in community mobilization and engagement.
  • Strong understanding of hygiene behavior change methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging environments.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications.
