Job Overview

The Credit Management Officer will be instrumental in assessing the creditworthiness of loan applicants, ensuring compliance with lending policies, and proactively managing the credit portfolio. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to supporting the bank’s mission of financial inclusion. The position is based in Lagos and is a full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate loan applications from individuals and SMEs, assessing financial viability and credit risk.
  • Conduct thorough financial and credit analyses, including reviewing financial statements, cash flow projections, and collateral.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit reports and present recommendations on loan approval, terms, and conditions.
  • Monitor loan performance and identify potential risks within the credit portfolio.
  • Ensure adherence to the bank’s credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary information and explain lending requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of credit risk assessment tools and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in credit analysis, loan assessment, or a similar role within the financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, credit scoring models, and risk management principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the Nigerian microfinance landscape is an advantage.
