Job Overview
The Communication Manager will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance Mercy Corps’ visibility, reputation, and engagement with key stakeholders in Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our narrative and ensuring consistent, compelling messaging across various platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement integrated communication strategies aligned with Mercy Corps’ global and regional objectives.
- Manage and produce compelling content for diverse channels, including digital media, press releases, reports, and advocacy materials.
- Cultivate strong relationships with media outlets, government agencies, donors, and local partners.
- Oversee crisis communication efforts and ensure timely, accurate, and sensitive messaging.
- Monitor and analyze communication trends and performance, recommending adjustments to strategy as needed.
- Support program teams in developing and disseminating success stories and impact data.
- Ensure all communications adhere to Mercy Corps’ brand guidelines and ethical standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in communications management, preferably within the non-profit or humanitarian sector.
- Proven ability to develop and execute effective communication strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of English.
- Demonstrated experience in media relations, content creation, and digital communications.
- Strong understanding of the Malaysian and Southeast Asian context.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
