Job Summary

The Certified Data Protection Officer will be responsible for ensuring the organization complies with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and other relevant privacy regulations. The role involves developing internal policies, managing privacy risks, and guiding staff on responsible data handling practices.

The individual will also act as the primary liaison between the organization and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission while overseeing processes related to data breach management, impact assessments, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

The Certified Data Protection Officer Job in Lagos includes the following duties:

• Ensure the organization complies with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, and other relevant data protection laws
• Develop, implement, and monitor internal data protection policies and procedures
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments and privacy risk assessments
• Serve as the main contact point for the Nigeria Data Protection Commission on regulatory matters
• Manage processes for data breach detection, reporting, and response
• Provide training and awareness programs to staff on data privacy and compliance requirements
• Advise senior management on privacy by design principles and effective data governance strategies
• Monitor compliance activities and recommend improvements to strengthen data protection practices

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in a relevant field such as Law, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related disciplines
• Professional certification as a Certified Data Protection Officer from IIM
• Between 1 and 5 years of experience in data protection, compliance, legal services, IT governance, or risk management
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian data protection regulations and international privacy best practices
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to manage stakeholders and provide compliance guidance across departments
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail

Salary

The Certified Data Protection Officer Job in Lagos offers a monthly salary ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦300,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
