Job Overview

The Agronomist will be responsible for providing expert advice and technical support to farmers and stakeholders in the agricultural sector. This role involves understanding local soil conditions, crop varieties, and best agricultural practices to optimize yields and promote sustainable farming methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct field assessments to evaluate soil health, pest and disease prevalence, and crop performance.
• Develop and implement tailored agronomic recommendations, including crop nutrition, pest and disease management, and irrigation strategies.
• Provide technical training and guidance to farmers on modern agricultural techniques and best practices.
• Monitor crop development and provide timely interventions to address challenges and maximize yield potential.
• Contribute to research and development initiatives to introduce and evaluate new crop varieties and farming technologies.
• Prepare reports on field activities, crop performance, and recommendations for stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Horticulture, or a related agricultural field.
• Proven experience as an Agronomist, preferably within the Nigerian agricultural landscape.
• Strong knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, entomology, and plant pathology.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to achieving set objectives.
• Proficiency in relevant agricultural software and tools is an advantage.
