Alan & Grant is seeking a skilled Content Writer / Script Developer to support high-impact communication initiatives for a government-facing organisation. This role focuses on creating compelling, accurate, and audience-focused content that informs the public, documents programmes, and strengthens digital and multimedia engagement.

The ideal candidate is an excellent storyteller with strong writing and research skills, capable of translating complex policies and programmes into clear, engaging narratives across multiple platforms.

Role Overview

The Content Writer / Script Developer will produce written and narrative content for digital, print, and multimedia channels, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency with institutional communication standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop clear, engaging, and well-structured written content for announcements, reports, briefs, newsletters, websites, and social media platforms
  • Write scripts for videos, animations, public service announcements, documentaries, and stakeholder presentations
  • Convert technical policies, data, and programme outcomes into accessible, citizen-friendly storytelling formats
  • Collaborate with communications, analytics, and project teams to align content with agency priorities and campaign objectives
  • Conduct research, interviews, and fact-checking to ensure all content is accurate, credible, and well-informed
  • Support speech writing, event messaging, talking points, and executive communication materials
  • Maintain consistency with brand voice, tone, and government communication standards across all outputs
  • Contribute to content planning, script development schedules, and multi-platform editorial calendars
  • Manage multiple content requests while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Media Studies, or a related discipline
  • 3–5 years of experience in content writing, script development, storytelling, or public-sector communication
  • Proven experience creating content for video, digital, and print platforms
  • Prior experience working with government institutions, development agencies, or regulated sectors is an advantage
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to develop compelling scripts for both short-form and long-form content
  • Strong research and analytical skills, including policy review and fact-based writing
  • Ability to simplify complex information and present it in a clear, engaging manner
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
