Job Overview

The Fiber Engineer will be instrumental in the technical aspects of our fiber optic network. You will be responsible for the design, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cable systems, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to industry standards. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of fiber optics, network infrastructure, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan fiber optic cable routes, including trenching, aerial deployment, and conduit installation.
• Install, terminate, and splice fiber optic cables according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Conduct thorough testing and certification of fiber optic links using OTDR, power meters, and visual fault locators.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to fiber optic infrastructure promptly and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, installations, and repair records.
• Collaborate with project managers and other technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Fiber Engineer or in a similar role within telecommunications or network infrastructure.
• Proficiency in fiber optic cable installation, termination (e.g., fusion splicing, mechanical splicing), and testing techniques.
• Familiarity with fiber optic testing equipment (OTDR, power meter, visual fault locator).
• Knowledge of telecommunications standards and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
