UNICEF Nigeria seeks a dedicated and experienced Nutrition Officer to contribute to its vital work in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and ensuring the rights of children and women are protected and realized. This role is integral to the UNICEF Nigeria country programme, which strives to accelerate the survival, development, protection, and participation of all children and women, with a particular focus on reducing infant, child, and maternal mortality and expanding access to essential services.
Job Overview
The Nutrition Officer will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition programs across Nigeria. This position requires a proactive individual committed to improving nutritional outcomes for vulnerable populations, particularly mothers and children, in line with UNICEF’s strategic objectives and global best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to government counterparts and implementing partners.
- Monitor program progress, analyze data, and prepare regular reports on nutrition indicators.
- Contribute to the development of nutrition strategies, work plans, and budgets.
- Facilitate capacity building of staff and partners on nutrition programming.
- Engage in advocacy efforts to promote improved nutrition policies and practices.
- Ensure effective collaboration with other UNICEF sections and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in nutrition program management.
- Proven experience in implementing community-based nutrition programs in developing countries.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
- Familiarity with UNICEF’s nutrition frameworks and guidelines.
- Fluency in English is required.
