New Incentives, a US-based nonprofit dedicated to saving lives through health-related cash transfer programs in developing countries, is seeking a Senior Auditor for Field Compliance & Investigations in Nigeria. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of our program, which provides conditional cash transfers to pregnant women in Nigeria to promote healthy pregnancies and birth outcomes. The Senior Auditor will play a pivotal role in maintaining operational excellence and safeguarding program resources.

Job Overview

The Senior Auditor will be responsible for conducting comprehensive audits, investigations, and compliance checks across our field operations in Nigeria. This position requires a proactive and analytical individual with a strong understanding of compliance frameworks and investigative methodologies within a nonprofit or development sector context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute field audits, including financial, programmatic, and operational compliance reviews.
  • Conduct investigations into allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, or non-compliance.
  • Develop and implement audit methodologies and tools tailored to the program’s context.
  • Assess internal controls and recommend improvements to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports with clear findings and actionable recommendations.
  • Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Liaise with program staff, local partners, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing, investigations, or compliance.
  • Proven experience in fieldwork within developing country contexts, preferably in Nigeria.
  • Strong knowledge of internal control systems and risk management principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and audit software is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
