Job Overview

Aetos Legal is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Litigation Officer to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. This role is crucial to our continued success, requiring an individual who can meticulously manage case files, conduct thorough legal research, and provide essential support to our senior legal professionals. The Litigation Officer will play an integral part in the seamless execution of our litigation strategies, ensuring accuracy and adherence to all legal procedures.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist in the preparation and filing of pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
* Conduct comprehensive legal research on statutes, case law, and regulatory frameworks relevant to ongoing litigation.
* Organize and maintain all litigation case files, including evidence, discovery documents, and correspondence, ensuring accessibility and integrity.
* Coordinate and schedule client meetings, court appearances, and other legal proceedings.
* Liaise with external stakeholders, including opposing counsel, court clerks, and witnesses, as directed by senior lawyers.
* Draft legal correspondence, memos, and summaries under the guidance of the legal team.
* Assist with discovery processes, including document review, production, and witness preparation.
* Monitor case progress and proactively identify potential issues or delays, escalating them to the relevant legal personnel.

Requirements

* A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university and completion of the Nigerian Law School.
* Admission to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor.
* Proven experience in a legal support role within a law firm or corporate legal department, with a focus on litigation.
* Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
* Proficiency in legal research methodologies and the use of legal databases.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate legal concepts clearly and concisely.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
