Applications are now open for Cohort 5 of the Generation Leadership Academy (GLA), a two-week intensive program designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed to become confident and effective leaders in their communities. The program empowers youth to engage meaningfully in decision-making processes and contribute to sustainable development.

About the Organizing Institution

The program is implemented by CVA, a youth-led non-governmental organization founded in 2016. CVA focuses on building inclusive societies in Rwanda and beyond by empowering citizens—especially girls and youth—to actively participate in community development. CVA leverages mentorship, advocacy, awareness initiatives, and capacity building to strengthen youth engagement and amplify their voices in sustainable development.

Program Highlights

Participants will benefit from:

  • Two weeks of immersive leadership and mentoring sessions
  • Training in youth engagement, governance, and community leadership
  • A week-long residential camp with practical learning and team-building exercises
  • Networking opportunities with peers, civil society leaders, and youth organizations
  • Hands-on experiences to boost leadership confidence and competence

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Nationality & Age

  • Rwandan youth aged 18–26
  • Passionate about leadership, youth engagement, and good governance
  • Youth affiliated with civil society organizations or youth networks are encouraged to apply

Availability

  • Must be willing and able to participate fully in the week-long residential camp

Education

  • Must be at least a university student or hold an A1 or bachelor’s degree
