Job Overview
The Phlebotomist/Lab Technician will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection of biological specimens and performing basic laboratory tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. - Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection accurately and efficiently from patients of all ages.
- Label specimens correctly and ensure proper transport to the laboratory.
- Prepare and process various biological specimens for analysis.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including but not limited to, urinalysis and basic hematology.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adequate stock of supplies.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Document test results accurately in the laboratory information system.
- Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, and physicians regarding specimen collection and test status.
Requirements
- Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Technology, Phlebotomy, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Phlebotomy is an advantage.
- Proven experience as a Phlebotomist/Lab Technician in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and specimen handling.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
