Job Overview
The Internal Control Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and compliance of Ikeja Electric's operations. This position requires a proactive individual to develop, implement, and monitor internal control systems, policies, and procedures across all business units.Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust internal control frameworks and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential control weaknesses and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Develop and execute audit plans to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.
- Monitor adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate discrepancies and irregularities, reporting findings and recommendations to management.
- Collaborate with department heads to embed a strong control culture.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on internal control activities for senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of evolving industry best practices and regulatory changes in internal control and risk management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CISA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in internal control, internal audit, or a related compliance function.
- Strong understanding of internal control principles, risk management, and corporate governance.
- Proficiency in data analysis and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with the Nigerian power sector is an advantage.
