Job Overview
The Internal Audit, Financial Management, and Compliance Consultant will be responsible for assessing and improving the effectiveness of HURIA's internal controls, financial management systems, and compliance procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying risks, recommending solutions, and fostering a culture of accountability and ethical conduct.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent financial audits and reviews of organizational programs and financial records.
- Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and donor requirements.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on financial management and compliance matters.
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports with actionable recommendations for management.
- Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and follow up on their effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in internal audit, financial management, and compliance within the non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and best practices in Kenya.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
