- Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance for the health section’s programmes, ensuring alignment with national priorities and global health strategies.
- Develop, manage, and monitor health projects, including budgeting, resource mobilization, and performance tracking.
- Strengthen partnerships with government ministries, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance health service delivery and policy advocacy.
- Lead and mentor a team of health professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
- Contribute to evidence-based programming, research, and evaluation of health interventions.
- Represent UNICEF in health-related forums and advocate for children's and women's health rights.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or PhD) in Public Health, Medicine, Paediatrics, or a related field.
- A minimum of eight years of professional experience in public health programming, with a significant focus on maternal and child health in a developing country context.
- Proven experience in programme design, management, and evaluation, including budget management and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government counterparts and diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local Nigerian languages is an asset.
