Job Overview
The General Manager – Engineering and Projects will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and successful delivery of all engineering projects and capital investments within Olam Agri's Nigerian operations. This role demands strong leadership, technical acumen, and a proven track record in managing complex projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic engineering and project management frameworks.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of capital projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning.
- Manage engineering teams, including design, procurement, construction, and maintenance.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Drive innovation in engineering solutions and process improvements.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related field).
- Master's degree in a relevant field or an MBA is advantageous.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in engineering and project management.
- Proven experience managing large-scale industrial or agricultural projects.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in emerging markets, particularly in Nigeria, is a plus.
