The Ambulance/Hospital Driver will be responsible for operating hospital vehicles to transport patients to and from medical appointments, between facilities, and to emergency destinations. This role is critical in ensuring continuous and efficient patient care and support services within St. Catherine's Specialist Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate ambulances and other designated hospital vehicles.
- Transport patients to and from the hospital for appointments, admissions, and discharges.
- Transport medical personnel and equipment as required.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and hospital safety protocols.
- Provide basic patient assistance during transfers, as trained and permitted.
- Maintain accurate logs of all journeys, mileage, and vehicle checks.
Requirements
- Valid Nigerian driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a driver, preferably in a healthcare or transport setting.
- Ability to operate an ambulance and understand its equipment.
- Excellent knowledge of road networks in Port Harcourt and/or Abuja.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
- Basic first-aid knowledge is an advantage.
- Must be physically fit and able to assist with patient transfers when necessary.
