Fellowship Dates and Location

  • Duration: June 1 – August 21, 2026
  • Location: In-person in Washington, D.C., or fully remote
  • Residency: All fellows are required to attend an in-person residency in D.C. from June 1–12.

Fellowship Overview

Participants will:

  • Work closely with an AI policy expert on impactful projects, tailored to each fellow’s experience and interests.
  • Explore key AI policy areas including national security, government AI procurement, export controls, geopolitics, CBRN implications, and jurisdictional AI regulations (U.S., U.K., E.U.).
  • Produce concrete outputs such as policy briefs, research reports, op-eds, presentations to officials, conferences, or strategic guidance for AI policy organizations.

Fellowship Structure

  • Two-week in-person kickoff in D.C. for networking, policy briefings, and orientation.
  • Ten-week mentorship and project work with AI policy experts.
  • Weekly one-on-one coaching with an IAPS Fellowship Coordinator.
  • Regular guidance and feedback from IAPS researchers and policy staff.

How Fellows Work

  • Independently on projects, with weekly mentor check-ins and final presentations.
  • Projects can include policy memos, briefings, research reports, conferences, op-eds, and strategic advisories.
