Job Overview

The Senior Coordinator, GIS / Data Analysts will play a pivotal role in managing and analyzing complex geospatial and health-related datasets. This individual will be responsible for ensuring data quality, developing analytical frameworks, and translating data into actionable insights to support eHealth Africa’s programmatic goals and inform decision-making for our partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the collection, cleaning, validation, and management of geospatial and health program data.
  • Develop and implement GIS methodologies and spatial analysis techniques to visualize and interpret health trends.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify patterns, insights, and key performance indicators for health interventions.
  • Create compelling data visualizations, reports, and dashboards for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior data analysts and project teams on GIS and data analysis best practices.
  • Collaborate with program teams to define data requirements and analytical needs.
  • Ensure data privacy and security protocols are maintained in all data handling processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS and data analysis, preferably within the public health or development sector.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial analysis techniques.
  • Strong expertise in statistical analysis and data manipulation using tools such as R, Python, or SQL.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
