Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking a dedicated Project Officer – MEAL to join our team in Nigeria. CRS is an international non-governmental organization committed to providing relief and development assistance to individuals in need across the globe. We operate through local partners, fostering their growth and strengthening their capacity to implement vital programs. This role is integral to ensuring the effectiveness and accountability of our projects.

Job Overview

The Project Officer – MEAL will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities for assigned projects within Nigeria. This position will ensure that project data is collected, analyzed, and used to inform program decision-making and demonstrate impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement MEAL plans and tools in alignment with project objectives and CRS MEAL policies.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits and data collection, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Facilitate accountability mechanisms, including feedback and complaint response systems.
  • Support the analysis of MEAL data to identify trends, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project reports and donor updates.
  • Build the MEAL capacity of local implementing partners through training and ongoing support.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in MEAL activities within the development or humanitarian sector.
  • Familiarity with data collection methods and analysis software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
