Eligibility Criteria for Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize 2026
To apply for the Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application
- Demonstrate strong leadership ability
- Be willing to participate in global events such as the Athens Democracy Forum and One Young World Summit
- Submit a short video explaining your work in defending democracy and your motivation
- Submit the application in English
- Provide a signed letter of support from a recognised organisation in the democracy or human rights field
Requirements for the Letter of Support
The referee must:
- State their full name, organisation, and position
- Explain their relationship with you and how long they have known you
- Describe your role and contributions
- Clearly explain how your work supports and advances democracy
- Write the letter in English
Evaluation Criteria
Applications for the Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize 2026 will be reviewed by an independent panel based on the following:
